Spring Hill Day Camp 2011

Every summer since Spring Hill Christian Camps started their day camps, at our very own Cornerstone Church in Brighton, no less, I've been sending the kids. This year was Carson's first. Mason's second, and sadly, Gracie 'out grew' day camp but plans on going to the overnight camp in Everett next summer.

It was no surprise that this years' camp built moments that created wonderful lifelong memories. Halfway through the week, Carson's confidence grew. As a matter of fact, on the second day of morning drop off he said, while holding back tears, that he was sad. He continued that "daddy said to pray when I'm sad". So just imagine all 3 of us (me, Mason and Car-ee) with our hands full of lunch pails, swim suits, towels and water bottles about to pile out of the car, drop everything to fold our hands to pray. The next day and for the rest of the week, Carson went off smiling and happy to experience a new day at camp :)

Mason loved the physical activities and challenges camp gave him. He had some cool friends from school join him this year too! He also learned and relearned values that will remain with him into adulthood.

Here's some interesting facts. During the week the kids spent:
- 36 hours outside doing incredibly fun, exciting and growing activities
- 300 minutes in meaningful conversations with Christian staff
- 10 hours in individual Bible study, small and large group settings learning about God and his plan for our lives.
Pretty cool, huh?

It really is all fun and games.

Anyone that knows Bryan, knows that he likes to play games with his family. If there isn't a game to be had, he will make one up. Over the year's we've had some really fun times. Here are some pictures from more recent memory-making moments.

Silly string fight.

Sometimes it's not so fun. William didn't like it so much.

"Where's my shoe"?

Who can throw their shoe the farthest? Even grandpa can't resist.

Dad even makes a game out of sanding and painting the old picnic table!

Let's play washer toss???

Some people like to play by themselves. Bret getting some quiet time :)

Little Blessings

Today is another great day. As I am drinking my coffee, Mason comes to sit next to me with his bible and begins to read the latest verse he has come to like and memorize. Isaiah 41:10. I'm thinking, really? Is this happening? As I swallow the lump in my throat, I think, yes, it's another great day!
